Are you familiar with the four quarters of the Eisenhower Matrix? If not, take a look here. It speaks to our tasks being either urgent or not and either important or not (sounds rather logical, doesn’t it?). What you want to accomplish in life is the ability to focus your time and effort of what is important, yet not urgent. Some people may thrive on putting out fires, but it’s a hard way to live and build future success.

How does self-discipline help? If you make sure to manage your daily behaviors well, you can dig yourself from beneath of the mountain of urgent/important and start being proactive. In the long run, proactivity pays off – you prevent emergencies and have opportunity to grow.
